We would like to thank everyone that has contributed volunteer testimonials to our new “How I Got Involved” section! You can read how others have worked to empower women and girls, what organizations they worked with, how they made it happen and what they have gained from their experience. We hope that the information in these stories will inspire ideas for how you can get involved!
We are still on the hunt for volunteers who are willing to share their stories and in exchange we have prints to offer! The volunteers of the first 20 stories added to the website will receive a signed print from the Stirring The Fire exhibition*. Do you have a story or know of someone that does?
Fill out this form in order to submit your story! Having difficulty putting your story into words? Please feel free to contact us at 206-275-2318 or sandy@philborges.com. We would love to talk to you!

I got involved in helping to empower women during the feminist movement of the 70s in the USA while attending high school and college. I initiated awareness initiatives and took action on campus to correct injustice. Twenty years later, after a devastating divorce, I found myself disenfranchised and displaced, needing to focus on empowerment once again! In helping others, you help yourself. I founded a non profit organization, the Tribal Trust Foundation, to preserve the living arts of indigenous people worldwide. In validating tribal traditions, we preserve the cultural heritage and contribute to women’s empowerment and economic development.
Barbara, thanks for sharing! What important work Tribal Trust Foundation is doing!! Do you have an experience working with women that would fit well on our site? If so, we would love to speak with you further!
