Stirring the Fire Grant

Stirring the Fire is offering a $3,000 grant made to the University of San Diego by social documentary photographer Phil Borges to help support a University of San Diego undergraduate or graduate student to do an international study, volunteer, internship or service-learning project focused on one of the following issues related to gender and social justice: Education, Economic Security, Health, Leadership, Trafficking, Violence Against Women.

The fellowship grant is intended to encourage students to become active participants in finding solutions to social problems that affect women and girls.

At Stirring the Fire we strive to raise awareness about issues women and girls face and ultimately inspire interested individuals to get involved. We feel that students are ideal candidates to help improve conditions for women and girls worldwide.

We hope that we will be able to announce additional grants as the Stirring the Fire exhibition continues to travel to colleges and universities.

We are please to announce that Emily Lohmeyer, a student at the University of San Diego, is the inaugural recipient of the "Stirring the Fire" Fellowship, a $3,000 grant made to the University of San Diego by social documentary photographer Phil Borges and Stirring the Fire.
